Cameron MacKenzie, RMT graduated from Okanagan College of Massage Therapy in Vernon, BC in 2022. He understands that everyone is unique, each treatment is specific to the individual based on their personal goals. He believes it is important to work together with his patients towards their goals and to be receptive to how their body is responding to treatment. He recognizes that an active lifestyle helps reduce many symptoms. When
necessary, combining some home care exercises with the treatments can help increase recovery time and prevent future injuries.
His approach to treatment is based upon patient education and helping them understand the anatomy and physiology of their body. He helps patients identify potential daily lifestyle choices that may be beneficial to them. He believes patient specific functional assessments are important to help track the progress of treatments. He treats by helping facilitate the nervous system through various massage modalities such as Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Therapy, Joint Mobilizations, Muscle Energy and Swedish Massage along with others.
Cameron developed his interest in massage therapy after experiencing the benefits firsthand while dealing with many of his own injuries from 14 years of football and other sports. He now volunteers coaching football in the community. His athletic background helps him understand the many aspects of injury rehabilitation and prevention to help athletes meet their specific goals. He has also witnessed the benefits that massage can have on an individual in their daily life. Massage therapy can be a great modality to help deal with stress, pain and restricted range of motion.
In his spare time, he enjoys being outside and taking advantage of what the Okanagan has to offer. He enjoys paddling out on the lake or getting out for a round of golf. In the winter he’s up in the mountains snowboarding when he can.
